The EU is drafting its “Kids Act”, a broad plan to limit access for those under 15 to social media, video-sharing sites, AI chatbots, and online games. Under the proposal, children under 3 would have no access, ages 3–12 would use parent-controlled child-friendly accounts, and 13–14 year-olds could use limited, supervised accounts with strict time limits. Full independent use would begin at age 15. Companies would need to remove addictive features and add tools for reporting harmful content. This remains a proposal, as EU countries and Parliament must approve it before it becomes law.
