Reporting on Micron's fiscal Q4 2026 earnings call, the key question was how the company sees future demand playing out, after a year of memory shortages that lifted profits across the entire RAM industry. COO Manish Bhatia said demand remains extremely strong: 75% of 2027 production capacity is already booked, and even looking out to 2030, 35% of capacity is already reserved. These figures cover all product types combined — direct RAM bookings run slightly lower than that average, while NAND bookings run slightly higher — and negotiations for additional capacity are ongoing. Bhatia said he doesn't see a point where supply will catch up with demand. Some advance-booking contracts also include clauses allowing delivery prices to be renegotiated against market rates later.

CTO Scott DeBoer also addressed competition from China, saying Micron currently holds roughly a two-generation technology lead — particularly through its 1-gamma manufacturing process, which relies on EUV lithography equipment that Chinese memory makers cannot obtain from ASML. He said that gap, combined with institutional manufacturing expertise, will remain Micron's key differentiator going forward.
